Stock Trade Tracker
A Stock Screener Can Help you Find Good Trades
A stock screener, also sometimes called a stock scanner, can help you identify good stock trading opportunities by allowing you to search for stocks that meet certain technical or fundamental criteria.
One example of a screen using technical criteria is to search for stocks that have reached a new 52-week high. This is a search that Investor's Business Daily made famous and publishes in their periodical. You could get more complicated by adding additional criteria, such as screening for stocks with a 52-week high and a volume greater than 250,000.
Yahoo has a stock screener that allows you to search for fundamental criteria. For example, it can return the stocks with a certain price/earnings ratio or minimum sales revenue.
There are probably an infinite number of ways to find good stocks to trade at a particular point in time. You can experiment with different strategies. If you know how to code, you can create your own screens with some of the screeners available that have application programmer interfaces that allow you to create different combinations of searches.
There are a number of good screeners to choose from on the web. Just do a search on Google for "stock screener" or "stock scanner", and you are sure to find some.
